May Meeting

Robert Holland-International Rescue

An extremely informative and emotional evening. Starting with a brief outline of his work at well documented events such as the Lockerbie plane crash and the Herald of Free Enterprise Ferry where many people lost their lives. Robert Holland gave his first hand account of the aftermath of the tragedy in Thailand after the Boxing Day 2004 Asian Tsunami.

April Meeting

Five a day

The April meeting was focused on our health. There was a discussion about exercise which encouraged the members to get up and get out, go for a walk or contact the team to find out about fitness classes or meeting groups in the area. We were given the chance to try curling, not on ice but a set made for flat floor surfaces.

The members were then asked to guess the object in the box to win a lovely bowl of fruit.

There were plenty of leaflets to take away about the subjects.

March Meeting

Our March meeting didn't quite go according to plan, as for the first time our booked speaker didn't turn up.

Two of our lovely ladies stepped into the breach and taught us some Belly Dancing moves...so amid the jingling of bells and beading, we shimmed our way though the impromtu evening. Thanks

1st Birthday Salsa Party

Our celebration night began with a visit from Lady Sarah McCorquodale, High Sherrif of Lincolnshire who gave us an insight into her current office and cut our Birthday Cake. Lady Sarah stayed to watch the beginning of the Salsa lesson and chatted to a few of our members.

Dancing shoes were at the ready when we were taught the basics of Salsa, Debbie our teacher for the evening made it very easy to understand and soon had all the ladies clapping, then dancing to the beat. With the basic step under our belts more and more were added until we had a little routine going...

Then came the spanner in the works...we had to dance together! Half the ladies became men and we started again, it was the same routine just done together. There were plenty of laughs and a few screams as we trod on toes and excuse me'd our way through. By the end though, the floor cleared a little as many found the refreshments but the final few battled on and got their groove.

Finally our first Annual Meeting was held and new Officers were duly appointed.
